Alex Ross has a great story in the most recent New Yorker about Don Carlo Gesualdo, a renaissance prince and madman who perpetrated a brutal double murder and was obsessed incredibly complex five-part singing arrangements in unusual harmonies. Personal favorite Werner Herzog has made a movie about this guy called “Tod für fünf Stimmen”Death for Five Voices, natch—so it’s added to the queue.
